Roulette is an easy game to learn where you can place bets on a single number or group of numbers in hopes you pick the correct one. The hardest part of learning how to play roulette is understanding the different bets and the odds each bet pays. There are “inside” and “outside” bets where if there is a table minimum you must wager the minimum either inside, outside or both.

Inside bets are bets placed on the different individual numbers on the roulette table. You can bet a single number or combination of numbers as well as the zero and double zero.

Outside bets are bets placed outside the numbers on the roulette table. These bets include such bets as Black or Red, Odd or Even, Dozen Bets and Street Bets to name a few. Outside bets are generally betting on a large group of numbers and in mlost caes pays either 2-1 or 3-1 depending on the bet.

Players can place a variety of ‘inside’ bets and ‘outside’ bets and the payout odds for each type of bet is based on its probability. Betting a single number has the highest odds at 35-1 and the lowest odds are 2-1 for bets such as Black or Red.

The roulette table usually imposes minimum and maximum bets, and these rules usually apply separately for all of a player’s ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ bets for each spin. If the table is a $5 minimum bet roulette table, if you want to place inside and outside bets you will need to wager at least $5 in some combination for both bets. For ‘inside’ bets at roulette tables, some casinos may use separate table chips of various colors to distinguish players at the table. Players can continue to place bets until the dealer announces “No more bets.”

When a winning number and color is determined by the roulette wheel, the dealer will place a marker on that winning number on the roulette table layout. When the marker is on the table, no players may place bets, collect bets, or remove any bets from the table. The dealer will then sweep away all other losing bets either by hand or rake, and determine all of the payouts to the remaining inside and outside winning bets. When the dealer is finished making payouts, the marker is removed from the board where players collect their winnings and make new bets.

You will also see in online casinos “American” and “European” Roulette. The only difference between the two is in American Roulette you have a “zero” and “double zero”. In European Roulette there is only one zero. Most casinos in the USA obviously use an American Roulette table while European Casinos will use the European Roulette table. If playing online you will find both at some casinos but the majority of online casinos only offer American Roulette.
